The day started with an amazing forest drive to Silver City.  After many more miles, I arrived at the Petrified Forest National Park, which contains an amazing array of petrified wood in the form of logs.  Huge tree trunks.  And the crystals that replaced the wood structure are just amazingly colorful.  After a long, dusty visit, I drove on to Flagstaff and the excellent Courtyard hotel.
