City of Rocks and Gila Cliff Dwellings

I left Deming this morning and headed north.  The first stop was the City of Rocks State Park, an amazing collection of volcanic stones remaining from an ancient volcano, eroded in a large boulder field.  The second stop was the see the Gila Cliff Dwellings, with some great, great, scenic driving in between.  Unfortunately, on the outward drive, I drove over a screw and got a flat - right in the middle of nowhere.  Very fortunately for me, I was able limp on for a few miles using the air compressor that came with my car, to the junction of New Mexico Highways 15 and 35.  The proprietor of the hotel there (Little Toad Creek), was formerly a mechanic and had a tire plug kit, and fixed me up!  So I called it a day, and stayed for the night.
